About Us

The Directorate of Immigration Services in Kenya, established through Executive Order No. 2 of 2023, operates under the State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services in the Ministry of Interior and National Administration. The organization oversees border control, issues passports and travel documents, manages residency permits, grants citizenship, and registers non-citizens. It also enforces immigration laws, provides consular services globally, and supports Commonwealth countries unrepresented in Kenya.

Evelyn Cheluget EBS, OGW, ndc (K) - Director General

Director General

Ms. Evelyn Cheluget is the Director General of Immigration Services, effective 15th May 2023. She is a career Immigration Officer, having joined the Directorate of Immigration in 1994 as an Immigration Officer and has since risen through the ranks to become Director General.

She has held various leadership and management positions in the Directorate of Immigration Services. These include Director of Immigration Services in charge of Citizenship, Head of Border Management, Officer in Charge of Immigration Services at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Head of Visa Section, Head of the Nairobi Passport Application Center, and also serving as Immigration Attaché in Washington, D.C.

An alumnus of the National Defense College (NDC), Ms. Evelyn Cheluget holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Egerton University, among other professional accolades.

For her exemplary commitment to public service, she was awarded the prestigious title of Best Immigration Woman of Inspiration at the 2023 Africa Public Sector Conference and Awards. She is also an Elder of the Burning Spear (EBS) and Order of the Golden Warrior (OGW), national honors conferred on individuals of high standing in public service.

Physical documents verify the authenticity of uploaded files and meet legal requirements for identification during biometric capture. They also provide reliable backups for records keeping.

A: Carry the invoice with a token attached, your original id and if it’s a replacement, also bring the old passport booklet.

A: You can track your passport on eCitizen or SMS your tracking number to 22222.

A: A passport is collected from the passport centre where the applicant's biometrics were taken.
